Jefferson City Landscaper Dies at Construction Site: OSHA Levies Fines Against Company 

Jacob Schrimpf, 31, was killed while working on a construction site in Jefferson City in January of 2020. Schrimpf was a landscaper at Schrimpf Landscaping and was working the construction site for the Old St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City when a retaining wall partially collapsed on top of him. Schrimpf was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fines Levied Against the Construction Company

On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) levied two fines against Schrimpf Landscaping. According to the OSHA documents, Schrimpf Landscaping allowed employees to work in a hazardous environment and failed to instruct employees on how to avoid unsafe conditions. Both fines carry penalties of $9,446, according to KOMU.
